Get the new kernel source (2.2.12)
Get the kernel src rpm from the latest rawhide distribution
Install it
Modify the spec file to omit the patches that wont patch the
new kernel source tree
Do rpm -ba kernel.spec
Then you can do a rpm -Uvh kernel-xxx-.rpm
I havent mentioned al the tiny details about where to
put the varoius files etc, but using Linux is and should
not be so easy as Windows. Linux is for people with some
hair on their chest. No offence, but you should be able
to compile a program. Usually its just a "make" and "make
install" as root.
You can also download
http://home6.inet.tele.dk/johnb/kernel-2.2.12-2.i686.rpm
provided you have an 686 (pII)
