Kristina,
The default is /home/httpd/html
Place your files in here and everything should work..

Thankyou to all: Russ, Greg, Adrian and Vidiot for your replies. I feel
I've learnt so much today! Now that I have apache up and running I would
like to disclose to you my real purpose of setting up apache. Are you
ready?.........
I am designing a homepage and instead of having to ftp to the server each
time I need to test the homepage, I would like to be able to do it on my own
Apache standalone webserver. I own a virtual domain URL and I have my
homepage files.
How can I get my homepage to sit on the server? Where do I set my URL on
Apache? I really don't have a clue what to do!
Thanks!
P.S lynx http://localhost worked fine!
