Let's assume you're using Apache. Then probably either (1) the name you're
using isn't a default page name or (2) the extension isn't a default
extension.
There is a directive called 'DirectoryIndex' in the srm.conf or httpd.conf
(probably) file located in (probably) /etc/httpd/conf. That directive
gives the names which will automatically be displayed. By default Red Hat
Linux uses index.html (or index.shtml or index.cgi) but someone may have
changed it on your server.
If you've named it index.htm then maybe you have an older RH install which
leaves .htm off the magic list. I would just always use .html.
