Hello Everyone,
Let me tell you the problem and then tell you what I did. I fired up
my linux box this morning (after my wife finished using win98) and
would not give me the login prompt (the GUI version of it), in fact,
it kept changing from a high resolution to text mode with a clik in
between. I never got to see the prompt. Anyways, after a wait of 5
minutes and all this while it changing back and forth, I get this long
list of error:
"According to /var/run/gdm.pid, gdm was already running (313) but seem
to have been murdered myseriously" 7 of these messages.
INIT: Id "x" resampling(?) too fast = disabled for 5 minutes
When I hit ctrl-alt-del it starts shutting down, but I get a 'failed
error' for "Shutting down X font server [failed]" which I might add
have never seen on my system before.
Now as to what might have cause it, I really don't know or did
anything out the ordinary. The only 3 things I did was install doom,
install ssh which came out with an error and edited /etc/rc.d/rc.local
and added 'setserial /dev/ttyS2 UART 16550' at the end of file.
I hope some here can clear me out the mess I am in, cause I would
really like to get to my linux box without having to reinstall it.
Thank you much.

PS: forgot to mention, my boot floppy don't work!
