lost+found..

Hi,
By mistake my machine rebooted and as a result I lost some files...Now as
fsck did the recovery process..it put them in the lost+found dir..Now there
all I se is some junkydata..Is there any chance I can view what is put
there..?? If not what is the use of that directory?
