OT: Algo qn

Hi

I have a 2D array of x*y integers
assuming that x and y are multiples of 8 , how do I extract each 8x8 block ?
and assume this 8x8 blocks to another 2D and store this in a datastructure

I'm just stuck at the extracting each 8x8 block (storing to datastructure 
is ok)
Any idea on how it should go ?
Sorry if this sound stupid (I am slow in some things but I try my best)
