Hello,
At the suggestion of another user, I tracked down the messages file and
ifconfig and got the following information regarding my ppp connection. I
hope that someone can educate me on what I need to do to fix the ppp
problem. I think the char-major-108 problem is fixed from info I've
already received.
Thanks for the help.
Penny

for ifconfig:
lo Link encap: Local Loopback
inet addr: 127.0.0.1 Mask: 255.0.0.0
Up Loopback running MTU: 3924 Metricil
Rx pockets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
Tx pockets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelan:0
I had an error in the term window when I did this and it is the following:
file gtkwidget.c: line 1584 (gtk_widget_map): assertion
"GTK_Widget_Visible (widget)=True' Failed
Looking at the messages file the only two things that I could see that
might be affecting the connection is a line that says "can't open indirect
secret file (password). The modem disconnects right after this or goes
into a continuous loop before it times out. The other thing that might
mean something is "can't locate module char-major-108".
