What command line are you using to install the .rpms?
Are you certain that the dependency is against openssl?
I ask because openssl-0.9.6-9 *provides* libcrypto.so.0.9.6 and
openssl-devel-0.9.6-9 provides libssl.so.0.9.6. I have both installed
and have neither libcrypto.so.0 or libssl.so.0 on my system.
If you have earlier versions of these packages, you might try
rpm -Fvh openssl* from a directory containing both .rpms, or list both
.rpm files on the command line.
Hope that helps,
