Looking for a LOCAL software manager

Hello!
Is there a local manager or database that will group INSTALLED binaries by 
function for a workstation, and for a server? 
Hopefully, it also gives the location, version, and RPM source after a custom 
install of the present large systems, I would find this very useful. 
	The  Product Registry of Solaris 8  (/usr/bin/prodreg) has even more 
features.
