Promise ATA-100

I don't own one of these so I haven't had the opportunity to check it out.
Looking through the archives I see that the ATA-100 works according to some.
I'm trying to find out, for somebody else, if these work out of the box. He
says he's getting a motherboard that won't have 66 like his current one
does. He's only tried linux for a short while and wants to dump M$ forever.
But, he needs to know this and I wasn't able to get a definitive answer for
him.

This will make/break his future linux usage because he's already commited to
getting this mobo and giving his current system away.

Anybody that can offer a definite answer wins a gold star (not a Goldstar,
because I wasn't planning on buying anything).
