I don't have a 'for dummies ' vsersion available. But, I've had to set
one up several times and just followed the directions on the squid
pages. If simple caching is what you need, you simply install it, run
'squid -z' and then start it up. If you need more than that, I'm more of
a dummy than you are, nyah, nyah.

I seem to remember there being a mailing list available, too.
