Where are the 7.1 kernel source files?

Title: Where are the 7.1 kernel source files?

I need to recompile the kernel to add NTFS support. I have read the FAQs, several different books, I think I have the idea of how to do this. BUT, I cannot find the source files. The FAQs (even RedHat's) and the books say look in /usr/src/linux or /usr/src/linux-2.4.2 but these directories do not exist! I have tried to install kernel-2.4.2-2.i686.src.rpm but still no directory. I have the 4 cd's for RedHat 7.1 but cannot figure out where to get the kernel source. HELP! I am a newbie to Linux but not programming or operating systems.
