I recompiled all those programs listed on that help page.... of course I did 
it before I saw all this, but I am using Kde 2.2, with 7.1 On a PIII 500, it 
took about 29 hours for all the packages to compile.

Had to mess with kdebase, and kdeadmin to make them compile properly.   But 
in the end I have 150 megs of kde 2.2 rpms, targetted to a 686. =)
