This may be due to the fact that the ping that came with RH7 does lookups by
default. This wasn't the default behavior before. Try a
ping -n xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
and see if you can ping. If you are able to play Quake you must be
communicating on the network.

I know this doesn't help your NFS problem directly, but perhaps it can keep
you from chasing problems that aren't there. Perhaps some log messages or
error messages could help find what's wrong. Post 'em if ya got 'em.
