how to update slocate

i would like to update slocate to 2.5 as listed at
http://www.geekreview.org/slocate/

however i cant find an rpm for redhate with that version.
i have never used a source rpm.

what should i do now.

what i am trying to accomplish is searching through multiple directories
for files, whose filenames match a regular expression.  overall it is about
10,000 files that will be looked at.  i want this to happen quickly as i
will
be returning a web page based on the search results.  if their is a better
tool
to use than slocate, i am open to that also.
