NAT ,Ipforwarding

Dear friends i think I have a question that is more than a simple one I
appreciate if you would help me in this way.
I want to know how i should setup my linux 7.1 kernel 2.4.x and squid
server, to work as transparent cache and transparent proxy server. I read
somthing about some changes in kernel configuration but I don't know where.
I also don't know if it would work with INVALID IP ADDRESSES.

I'll be very thankfull .
