wrong glyph showing up



Hi. I have an interesting problem. In my xterms, the \ (backslash) is
showing up as the yen character (even thought it acts as a backslash).
Rather annoying as one can imagine. From  what I can find, this sort of
thing is controlled by the LANG variable.  Mine is set to en_US -- which
in theory should be able to display a backslash as a backslash. Apps like
NS and licq display the glyph okay, just not things vi, pine and such. Any
ideas how to make things display as they should?
