Yeah. I have/had the same problem. I just don't mount anything with gnome.
Sounds like a gnome bug report needs to be made. I use very little from
gnome (or kde either for that matter) so I didn't bother with it. I never
even made the effort to determine if it was a bug or something I did
wrong, or something screwy with my setup. I'm guess they've already heard
about it since I'm not alone. But, you can never tell about these things.
