Hi,
 ... how do I find out, what the BIOS and RH think that the
disk characteristics on my IDE Disk (Samsung .. 6,402 MB) are ..
which are the values I have to look for in my Award-BIOS.

Is there a possibility to tell RH 7.1 during install something about
the characteristics of my disk? If yes, which characteristics do 
I have to tell about to RH 7.1 ...
Lots of questions, I know ... sorry about that ...

BTW: RH 7.1 seems to identify my ALI-chipset correctly:
RH 6.1, running well before on the same machine nearly a year 
until it crashed about 3 weeks ago , didn't ... and after these
broken 7.1 installs I installed RH *6.2* with no problems into
the same disk partitions where I installed 7.1 before ...
I attach to this mail the result of a
rpm -V -a
that I ran on this 6.2 system yesterday ...
