This does seem to be supported by the Intel and Octek boards we run. YMMV.
Best way to tell is to try it.

Don't know about 'moving' it, maybe best with something like Ghost or
Partition Magic?

Don't know if you actually need to. If you have a proper boot floppy and
then yank hda, Can't you just run LILO with the correct fstab to re-create
an MBR on the second disk?
