Good for you.

This is my first install, although I've been running an RH box for a while. I had an error on install that the box wouldn't allow me to develop a boot disk, so I ran the following:

dd if=/boot/vmlinuz of=/dev/fd0 bs=8192
end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00 (floppy), sector 0
dd: opening '/dev/fd0': Read-only file system
rdev /boot/vmlinuz
Root device /dev/sde1

You might want to try the 'mkbootdisk' command, if you didn't know about it. Useful thing. Also make sure you can successfully boot off your bootdisk... these are the kind of things that *must* be verified.

I also had an error during the install with regard to the ethernet connection (eth0). The box does have an ethernet card.

Which error? Heck, which card? Output of ifconfig? Contents of /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0? Contents of /etc/sysconfig/network? Come on, Ben, we've been here before...

DETAILS!!!
