Oracle 8.0.5 on RH 7.1

Ok. Yes, I know Oracle 8.0.5 is not the version to be running on Linux,
however we have a bunch of OCI based code that will not work under
8.1.x. (And the project to fix this has not even started yet)
That said.
Has anyone here ever installed 8.0.5 or 8.0.5.1 on RH 7.1? And if so,
what version and with what patch?
Supposedly, you unpack the distribution and install as normal, except
you select 'Install -- Do not create database'. Once the install
completes you then apply the patch to the ORACLE_HOME directory. You can
now start an instance and build databases.
However, on RH 7.1, the initial install fails, before you ever get a
chance to patch ORACLE_HOME. (The problem is a linking problem which is
what the patch addresses)
I have tried this on 3 different 7.1 machines now, one with no updates
installed, and one with all updates as of Sunday.
I cannot even find anywhere on Oracle's site where you can still
download anything related to 8.0.5
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks greatly
Chuck
