  Have you compared hardware with him?  Off the top of my head,
maybe mouse or video...RAM...?  I mean, I've run 6.0 on two
Dells, one of which is now running 6.2 (the other is running mdk
7.2, but not for long).  Anyway, I've not experinced any
weirdness on one which had happened on the other -- always
different things.  So, I'd look at hardware.
