For what it's worth, 'locate' doesn't do anything on new stuff. Before
it
knows anything about what's on the system, either cron or root need to
run the 'updatedb' command.

In your case, 'rpm -q  jdk' should get a proper reply. I realize the
original name was j2sdk, but that's not what it's called once installed.
I can rename the rpm 'RealPlayer-8.0-1.i386.rpm' to
'Hello-There-i386.rpm' if I choose. But, if I want to do a query, I
won't find it using the new name. It will always be install as
RealPlayer.
