Hi.
I have a supermicro 370de6 using a matrox G400 (dual
head) AGP card. RH72 installed fine, and resolutions
of 800x600 or below work okay, but when I attempt
1024x768, it locks the whole machine. 'X -probeonly'
also locks it.
I fear it has something to do with the AGP settings in
the computer's BIOS. IOW, I don't think it's entirely
a RH or X issue, as the BIOS can be configured in such
a way as to require the BIOS settings to be cleared
for the machine to boot at all.
However, Windows is installed on this machine too, and
with nearly all settings it works without incident.
What level of software driver support does Matrox
supply for this board and RH72? Is it necessary to
investigate any proprietary drivers, or should XFree
supply all that's necessary?
There is 512Mb in the box. I've tried setting 'AGP
Device Address Space Size' to all variations including
32Mb and 128Mb. There is also an 'AGP FW
Enable' option, as well as 'AGP Data Rate' with
choices of 1x, 2x, and 4x.
I thought there might be someone out there with more
graphics experience than myself with some ideas on
what these settings should be...
thanks.
