I have a dell notebook at work. Had it running dual boot with win2k and
rh7.1. I decided to give 7.2 a try on it and ran into a problem. . .actually
two problems.
Under 7.1 I configured X for the flat notebook display and luckily when I
docked it it worked fine on the Sun(sony) 17" monitor. However, now with 7.2
I can configure X on the notebook fine but it will not work in the dock. I
get an error on the monitor saying "out of scan range". I decided to try to
configure the Sun monitor on it just to see the difference and to my suprise
I could not get it to work at all! Every config I tried failed. I even
stole the ranges and did a custom config comparing it to a working 6.2 sparc
box I also have with the same monitor. . no worky.
First question: Has anyone else found this problem and do they know how to
fix it?
Second: I never bothered to put the time into this box but I was wondering
how it is best to set up a notebook with a dock for the two different sets of
configs? I also have two different pointing devices that don't play well
together and it's a pain to have to rerun mouseconfig to fix it all the time.
. .how does the rest of the world do this?
