Failure to run perl -MCPAN -e shell;

I made a mistake when I used CPAN for the first time telling it that my
perl directory was /usr/local/lib/perl5 rather than the real place of
/usr/lib/perl5. So after I noticed the problem I just deleted the newly
installed perl directory for 5.6.1. Big Mistake. Now when I try to "run
perl -MCPAN -e shell;" I get:

Can't locate CPAN.pm in @INC (@INC contains:
/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.6.1/i686-linux /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.6.1
/usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i686-linux
/usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl .).
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted.

How I can restore CPAN so that it uses 5.6.0? Once I get that fixed I
could then re-install CPAN for version 5.6.1 with the directory of perl
being /usr/lib/perl5 (the correct spot. Well at least on RH 7.0).
