Re: rpm doesn't find installed rpm

  "rpm --initdb" followed by "rpm --rebuilddb" doesn't work.  I don't have
a bunch of development stuff on the machine, and fortunately /home was on
it's own partition so my solution at this time was to reinstall RH7.1 and
all the updates and errata.

  I will check out rpm.org.  Couldn't find the answer in "Maximum RPM"
which is sitting here on my desk but it may be out of date.

Thanks for the response though.  I will be posting a general question about
building from source rpms separately.  If you have any insight it would be
appreciated.

  P.S. I am learning.  Now I am hand logging the steps I take when
'futzing' about with the computer and will at least have a record of how I
got into the next pickle.
