A question for the New Yorkers on this list;
I am looking for a NYC based ISP which is efficient, bullshit free service
provider.
I used NetZero for a while and these guys took over my screen with a
non-removable panel and a non-removable ad that was in its own separate mini
window. My computer was freezing too often and I really couldn't do any
serious work.
Then I had EarthLink and their service is reasonable, but when I moved all
the email that was important to me from Hotmail to their software, I found
out that after a few days I couldn't get to that mail anymore.
Their support people just know how to copy-paste answers and their first
suggestions to me was "try uninstalling and reinstalling our software".
So now I am looking for someone that:
1) supports a fast dialup connections- dsl in addition would be welcome.
2) has good knowledgeable people in its support staff, where I wouldn't
have to wait two hours on the phone just two talk to someone.
3) is local, so that I can dial within my area code.
4) doesn't clog my screen with any panels or ads.
Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Happy labors day,
Oded.
