Re: telnet2

Hi All - I want to thank all those who responded to my query on the telnet2
problem. All responses were greatly appreciated..

I found the problem with telnet2 not working.

What happened was that my partner decided to edit the /etc/xinetd.d/telnet2
file using a Windows machine. The result was that that file (telnet2) had
numerous '^M' throughout it. I found the errors when I ran:

/sbin/service xinetd stop
/sbin/service xinetd start
tail -50 /var/log/messages and I saved the result to a file.
After this was done I had a look at that file and WOW I saw the problem. I
immediately brought up that file and had a look at it.. And there were those
'^M' symbols.. Grrrrrrrrr.. I showed this to my partner and he vowed never
to use a windows machine to edit files for the linux system..

Hard way to learn a lesson eh??

Everything works fine now..
