I just responded to how I fixed the problem. YOu wouldn't want to see the 
telnet2 file. You would fall off your chair laughing.. What a life..  Never 
use Windows to edit your linux files . It produces '^M'  symbols everywhere 
you do something.  And  in particular RH7.1 objected to seeing those symbols 
in telnet2..
