Re: DSL configuration on Linux - help

Hi, I would call the tech support right now. But I was hoping I could do something by myself :-) or with a little help. The diagnostics are reported from 10.5.1.2. eth0 comes up fine, shows the MAC address, gets IP 10.6.1.1. However the 10.5.1.2 configuration shows that the PC has an IP address of 64.x.y.z. But i don't see that on the Linux BOX. I tried running /sbin/pump but it doesn't change things. ifconfig says eth0 is UP RUNNING. The DNS primary and secondary are set up. Any thing else I should be looking for. How do I reset the configuration on the DSL (gray) box? Do I need to power cycle the Linux box, or just reboot.

thanks, vijay

Vijay, when you say diagnostics, how are you getting them? What happens
when you try to visit http://10.5.1.2 in Netscape? What happens when you
bring the Linux box's eth0 up ("ifup eth0")? Does it DHCP correctly?
What does "ifconfig" report? Hal is right about the cable too--are you
sure the computer/gateway cable is good? Does it work in another context?
