That's not going to do it.
In an eariler message, he noted that he doesn't have an inetd.conf...which
means there's no /etc/rc.d/init.d/inet, which means hes running Guinness
or Seawolf.
First, he needs to "chkconfig telnet on" and then "service xinetd reload".
And for the record, folks, while using SSH is a good idea, please remember
that there are times when telnet is a necessary evil. I know...I'm in
such a position.
Rather than "don't use telnet, use ssh", as if it's a command, why not
"Here's how you do it, keeping in mind that telnet isn't as secure as ssh,
and we suggest using ssh, instead"?
