Personally, when dealing with an infrastructure that I don't control
and a tech staff that doesn't know jack about anything but Windows --
such as a home broadband link -- I prefer a dual-boot workstation.
Testing your link using the same hardware under Windows will do two
important things right away -- confirm or refute a driver problem, and
eliminate the "we don't support Linux" crap. In other words, if the
problem goes away in Windows, it's your problem (fix the driver). If
it doesn't, then at least you know it's physical or network, and tech
support's eyes won't glaze over.
