Couple questions from a total newbie!!!

1)    How do I mount a win98 partition in linux?
2)    I installed Netscape Communicator 6.1, exactly
like the instructions said and it SEEMED to work fine, but there are no
        icons on the destop of links
in the "start menu". I tried to manually create a link by doing copy paste
but it didn't seem to
        work (didn't do anything) 
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
3)    Can someone walk me through, privately (ICQ, E-mail)
how to compile a program which I can send them, it is for a
        external cable modem which
still needs to dial-up to connect to the internet. I have the program I
just don't know what
        to do with it.

An please be gentle, I am not a geek... I'm still in training and would love to get off of bill gates POS (Sorry for anybody who actually likes microsoft, but of course if you did. Why would you be here?)
