Well, the coder is Japanese, so though there is ~some~ English
documentation, the real trouble is all the "patched" versions by
other coders out there. Did you download your version from one
of the Tokyo mirrors? I'd found that numerous things just go
wrong till I realized that there's just no point but to get it
from the originator's locations.

Ain't it always the way?;-)

Oh no. Evidently this new option does an eitirely different
thing. Also, which compile did you choose? I've found that only
up to the Cookie version seems to work for RedHat 6.0 & 6.2,
Mandrake 7.2 as well; except the Full compile had worked in
Mandrake 8.0. Naturally, I believe that has a lot to do with a
combination of installed libraries & XFree86 4.x.

Hmm. Are you starting w3m with the full:
w3m file://path/to/your/file.html
or just with
w3m
now that you've stipped piping cat?
The only thing I can suggest, if you ~had~ downloaded from some
other location, go to ftp://ei5nazha.yz.yamagata-u.ac.jp/w3m &
compile it. Otherwise, I'm at a loss. Sorry.
