Would it? The synopsis for fdisk that I have says this:

I was operating on the presumption that any previous posts that I had read
referencing the use of fdisk and other utilities against /dev/hda1 were
correct.
Since I have only used fdisk against the device (as you mentioned), I
cannot comment on the accuracy of the previously provided information
except to say that it wasn't corrected.
So, you are correct in your statement -- I was trying to clarifiy to Reuben
(?) that the only partition that may need to be changed according to his
original post was hda1 -- not necessarily the entire device.
