Re: ftp...

Well one way would be to link their public_html directory to say /var/www/html/2003 and so on, I don't know how safe that would be but I don't expect issues though. Or you can do a script alias take a look at Apache's docs for the exact syntax but I guess it would be something like:

ScriptAlias johndoe /home/johndoe/public_html/

If you decide to do the above you will be doing this for all the users you have I would think.

um i should of explained a little more...

each user willl be uploading to a subdomain of indypatriots.com and indypatriots.com's root directory is /var/www/html

what i need to know how is to ftp to /var/www/html and give some users access to say /var/www/html/2004 /var/www/html/2003 .... samba isn't an option because none of the users are on the local domain theya re all at their home

thanks,

Hello,

i've got some users... that i need to be able to upload to the html directory anybody know a clean way to do this.. i mean the last time when i used suse they told me to upload to the users home directory and then login and copy to the html dirctory but that was to much.. any ideas??

I assume that you want to let users have their own web pages correct ? Well what is an easy thing to do is to create a public_html directory for each user and tell them to put their web stuff there. You could create a SAMBA share for windows and maybe call it w: and let them directly put things into that drive it will automagically appear at a url such as http://www.yoursite.com/~user

HTH. Cheers,

Aly.
