"Unix" comes in several different popular but proprietary flavours e.g. HPUX
(HPCompaq) , AIX (IBM) etc...
Some are just impressive e.g. Sun Solaris 9 (I think you can download a free
copy these days , not sure )
Whilst others are not publicly available anymore e.g. Dec's Ultrix
There is a legend i.e. Berkeley's BSD ( Berkeley's www.freebsd.org )
And there is this tidal wave , Linux
At some point you will need to know what shell you are using , Bourne-shell
or C-Shell ?
It is my believe that if you get into Linux, it will give you a solid
foundation.
And yes, you can dual-boot your machine using Lilo (yea yea yea, I hear the
objections already ...)
I am sure many others on this forum will know much much more, but start at the
beginning !
