Quick help: # service ipchains stop # modprobe -r ipchains # lsmod (to make sure there are no other wierd modules in the way) # rpm -e ipchains (to ensure you don't load ipchains again) And now you can configure your iptables filters, etc. To save your itables filters and NAT tables use "service iptables save". Now, if this is your first run at iptables, start at http://www.netfilter.org/ Pretty good documentation once you've read through it a couple of times.
