I don't know if i can help.

It failed for me with anything prior to 8.0. I found out then it was
mobo-dependent to some extent, and the one I had wasn't one of the
supported ones. Now it seems it is (Gigabyte is the type). Maybe you're
having similar problems and yours isn't supported.

It's possible that upgrading the kernel will help. Perhaps the support
has been upgraded, or there was something wrong with that module in a
particular kernel tree. I know the kernel has been updated. I even have
one from the Rawhide tree installed and know it works fine for me. That
might be worth a try.

Before messing with the kernel, though, it might be something as
simple as a hardware setting. It's obvious it isn't seeing the device as
existing. How is your BIOS set up for sound? I'd have to look, but I
think I have everything enabled except SB emulation (or whatever it's
called).
