- Date: Mon Dec 30 10:38:06 2002
Perhaps a little OT, but I'm struggling with syncing my palm under RedHat 7.3
and KDE 3.0.
I have a dual boot machine, running Redhat 73 and Win98. Under win98, I can
sync fine. The hotsync cradle for my palm is attached to COM3, it shows
03E8-03EF and IR 03.
>From the Linux side, using the gpilot wizard, I step through defining the
port (/dev/ttyS2, which I believe matches the above), and follow the
instructions to perform the initial sync with the pilot. It prompts me to
press the hot sync button, but then nothing happens. Eventually the palm
times out. I've tried kpilot, also, with the same result.
Here is what setserial shows me:
[root localhost bill]# setserial /dev/ttyS2
/dev/ttyS2, UART: 16550A, Port: 0x03e8, IRQ: 3
I'm stuck. What else could be causing my problem? Summary - it syncs
perfectly in windows, but under Linux (same box, same port, same cradle), it
does not do anything - doesn't seem to recognize the port.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can render.
