Slow mouse in KDE

I have RH72 installed on a Dell Inspiron 7000. The mouse is VERY slow in
X, using KDE. I've tried the settings in the Control Center but they
don't seem to make a difference. 

I saw a post in the archive that said something about adding "Resolution
300" to the XF86Config, but it doesn't say where to put it. 

Any other suggestions?
