Gateway Solo 9500

I'm teaching a Fundamentals of Linux class this quarter and a student
has brought  a Gateway Solo 9500 to class.  Things have gone well while
teaching him how to build the system in an understanding fashion.  A
problem we are having is we are unable to identify the chipset for the
modem/ethernet combo card.  We think is Lucent but the assumption we
made for the chipset didn't get us the correct drivers from the Linmodem
website.  We know it is a Lucent chipset but cannot identify the
version.
  Any help is appreciated.  I won't see this student till next Monday
and he hasn't presented any documentation yet.  Is there anyway to
identify the chipset on the RedHat 7.1 version?
