After burning out the iso's and booting the first cd the 7.3 installer
will specifically ask you if you want to do an upgrade install or a
clean format/new install. I had no serious issues with a 7.2 to 7.3
upgrade install here. Not sure if 7.0 to 7.3 is more risky or not.
Another method I've used if you have a separate /home partition is to
tarball /etc/ into my homedir and run a clean install without formatting
/home. Once I've installed and rebooted I login, untar the /etc backup
and move most of my custom configs back to the new /etc. After a few
hours work your back in business.
