Unable to get X working on Thinkpad T23 (RH 7.3/XF86 4.2.0)

I have problems to get X working on my IBM Thinkpad T23. I think I already 
read most of the FAQs and HOWTOs regarding the T23 and Linux, but I 
haven't found a specific one for RH 7.3. I already tried 4 different 
drivers, countless combinations with Xconfigurator, no success.

Here's the environment:

IBM Thinkpad T23 2647-KNG with S3 SuperSavage IXC 16MB Graphic Adapter
Red Hat 7.3 with XFree86 4.2.0 (running as Guest under VMWare 3.0)

I'm just curious if anybody is out there with a T23 running RH 7.3 ? Or 
anybody with a SuperSavage IXC running RH 7.3 ?
