Sure this is a FAQ, but edit /etc/inittab:
Change the runlevel 5 to 3 with
 
id:5:initdefault:
to
id:3:initdefault:

BTW, we can do without the 40 or 50 lines of HTML just to
send 2 lines of a text question.
