Buring audio cd just creates static

I tried using koncd 1.1 beta 1 using KDE 3.0.0-10 to burn an audio cd using mp3 files as the source 
for the tracks, and all I got was 12 tracks of good ol' static. why did this happen? did i not 
specify the setting correctly? when burning an audio cd, is it better to do Track-at-once or 
Dics-at-once?
