OpenOffice 1.0 installation woes

I've noticed this with OpenOffice 1.0 and SOT Office.  Installation goes
fine, but when it comes to registering the components, the installation
program will freeze my system, and I have to reboot, just like Windoze.
:-(  I've installed some of the errata on my system, and I suspect the
version of glibc could be causing it.

Has anyone else noticed this?
