Note to ebinc--the original subject line was very poor. Better subject

If you're concerned about whether a hosting company is cheating you and
not offering you a dedicated server, you're not buying the right service.
Buy full command line access, full Linux administration--and check the
boot messages. In particular, look for the hardware bits from dmesg. Be
prepared to do everything, including making sure you get backups done.
uk2.net offer a reasonably good price for dedicated servers, and a friend
says their service has been good for him. They have a variety of support
plans, make sure you sign up for the one you want.
